Plain pricing, because you should not have to call to find out.
We post our pricing on the website because some families come to us at the hardest moment of their year, often late at night, sometimes in tears. They should not have to navigate a quote form or call a stranger to find out what something costs. The pricing below is what it costs. It is not a starting point. It is not a base rate that escalates.
Our pricing is in the median for in-home veterinary hospice in the Portland area — not the cheapest, not the most expensive. We charge what we charge so that we can do this work full-time, properly, and so that we can answer the phone ourselves seven days a week.

How we collect.
We collect at the time of service. Cash, check, all major cards, Apple Pay, and Venmo all work.
We do not accept CareCredit. The interest rates have changed in recent years and we no longer feel comfortable recommending it for end-of-life care.
For families experiencing financial hardship: we have a small fund we can draw from. Call Sage and ask. We will not turn away a family who cannot afford the visit. We just need to know.
Insurance and reimbursement.
Most pet insurance does not cover hospice or in-home euthanasia. Some carriers do. We can provide a receipt formatted for insurance submission. Call your insurance carrier to ask before assuming, since coverage varies considerably by plan.
The questions we get most.
Why does the price not include cremation?
Cremation is provided by our partner Dignified Pet Services, a separate licensed facility, and is billed at cost without markup. Many families also choose home burial or arrange cremation through a different provider. Keeping cremation separate from the euthanasia visit keeps the pricing honest and gives the family real choice.
What if we want to do home burial instead?
Home burial is legal on private property in Oregon, with some local-jurisdiction restrictions. We can help you navigate the rules in your specific city or county. If you elect home burial, we leave you with everything you need — including a simple cotton shroud cloth at no extra charge if you'd like one.
Can I be present for the visit?
Yes — always. That is the whole point. We are a family-attended practice. We allow ninety minutes for an at-home euthanasia visit, sometimes more. You are with your animal the entire time.
Can children be present?
Yes. We see this often and we welcome it. If you would like, we are happy to talk through the visit with your children ahead of time so they know what to expect. Many families find that including children in the goodbye is helpful for their own grief. Every family is different — we will support whatever you decide.
What if my pet is very anxious about strangers?
Many of our patients are, and we plan for it. We move slowly, sit on the floor, and let the animal come to us in their own time. For very anxious animals — especially cats — we can prescribe a mild oral sedative for the family to give an hour or two before our arrival, which makes the visit far easier on the animal. Tell us during the scheduling call.
